Donald L. Kramer, M.D., Chief Executive Officer

With a medical practice spanning more than 25 years, Dr. Donald L. Kramer has been instrumental in the development of Northstar Healthcare as a leader in the field of ambulatory surgical centers (ASCs) in Houston and Dallas. Northstar completed an Initial Public Offering and its shares began trading on the Toronto Stock Exchange on May 17, 2007 under the symbol NHC.

Responsible for business operations and strategic planning, Kramer leads an organization that includes The Palladium for Surgery - Houston and Kirby Surgical Center and management relationships with The Palladium for Surgery - Dallas and River Oaks Pain Management’s three locations.

Kramer has developed numerous other Texas ASCs since the mid-1990s, serving as founder, partner and/or board member at five highly successful surgical centers.

In addition, he was a founding partner of and large shareholder in Foundation Surgery Affiliates (FSA), which operates and manages 19 surgical and radiology centers in Texas, Pennsylvania, Oklahoma and New Jersey. Dr. Kramer divested his ownership in FSA in advance of the Northstar IPO.  

Dr. Kramer is an active member of the Harris County Medical Society, Texas Medical Association and Texas Ambulatory Surgery Center Society, and previously served on the faculty of Baylor College of Medicine and The University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston.

He received a Bachelor of Science degree in premedical studies and statistics from Penn State University in 1977, and his medical degree from Jefferson Medical College in Philadelphia in 1981.

Kramer and his wife Ilene have four girls, including seven-year-old triplets.
